A charismatic former army lieutenant with a public school background. His now cool exterior bottles up an explosive temperament. His marriage fell apart when he began physically abusing his wife. Despairing of getting himself together, he wants to end the misery he causes others. He is also motivated to help colleagues who lack the courage to get it together to kill themselves.
Casting Calls – Asbo
Deceptively charming, provocative and fearless: a fire-cracker likely to explode when least expected, he is a joker. A Canadian, he has been living on the street, in and out of gaol. Incapable of getting his life together he sees no point in going on living. Lee, his former lieutenant, is the only person he respects.

Casting Calls – Sashan
Since Afghanistan Shashan has lost all confidence, considering himself totally useless. Proud of a country he has served and for which he was willing to give his life, he wants to die with dignity

Alison’s sister, a capable policewoman who has blended with her professional role to become a functionary who finds little joy in her job.
Casting Calls – Croftie
Although unable to find much joy in her life she lacks the courage to end it. Nevertheless she believes she can change her colleagues’ minds about ending theirs. She lives with a female partner.
Casting Calls – Alison’s Mother
As ineffectual as many mothers become to influence their married children’s lives. So, she does what she can: worry quietly.
Casting Calls – Aritha
Croftie’s partner. A postal worker. Solid and determined
Casting Calls – Jimmy
Insecure, he’s not sure why he’s there. He believes his wife would be better off if he were dead, free to meet someone who would be a proper husband and a competent father to their children.
